International Day of the Book is a yearly event on 23 April, organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright. The English Department at the Official School of Languages is having a SHORT STORY COMPETITION to celebrate it. The deadline for your stories to be submitted is 14 April.

This is a documentary on the Irish Famine in the 1840's. The events that became known as "The Great Famine". John Mitchell claimed that during the Famine years, Ireland actually produced sufficient food, wool, and to feed and clothe not nine but eighteen million people.
